Hi! I’m Melanie – thanks for being here

I’m a Counsellor and Accredited Mental Health Social Worker based in Perth, WA, and the founder of Bloom Perinatal Counselling. As a mum of three myself, I understand both the joys and challenges of parenthood. I started Bloom Perinatal Counselling in 2025 to support families just like yours on their journey.

Since graduating with my Social Work degree in 2000, I’ve had the privilege of providing therapeutic support to West Australian families through mental health, primary health, and women’s health services. Over the past decade, I’ve specialised in working alongside parents, babies, and young children, and completed postgraduate studies in perinatal and infant mental health.

I offer evidence-based approaches including parent-infant psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, interpersonal therapy, solution-focused therapy, family therapy and play therapy. Together, we’ll find a path that suits your family’s unique needs.

I’m known for my warm, empathetic and non-judgemental approach. My aim is to create a safe, supportive space where you can talk openly about your worries, build on your strengths, and embrace the joys of early parenthood. I love working with parents and their babies together, helping you learn each other’s cues and deepen your connection during those hazy early days, weeks and months.

I believe both pregnancy and the postpartum period are powerful times for personal growth and for nurturing your child’s emotional wellbeing. I also understand how tricky it can be for new parents to leave home or reach out for support. That’s why I’ve shaped Bloom’s services to be flexible, accessible, and tailored to your circumstances—so you can get the help you need, when you need it most.
